He rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s with his smooth, soulful voice and romantic ballads. Vandross began his career as a backing vocalist for artists like David Bowie and Chaka Khan before releasing his solo debut album, "Never Too Much," in 1981.


Throughout his career, Vandross released a string of successful albums, including "The Night I Fell in Love" and "Give Me the Reason," earning him multiple Grammy Awards. Known for his powerful vocal range and emotional delivery, Vandross became one of the most celebrated R&B artists of his time. Despite health issues later in his life, he continued to record and perform until his passing on July 1, 2005, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music that continues to inspire fans around the world.
