Lyn Collins, born as Gloria Lavern Collins, was an American soul singer known for her powerful vocals and energetic stage presence. She was born on June 12, 1948, in Abilene, Texas, and began her music career as a member of James Brown's revue, where she gained recognition as "The Female Preacher." Collins is best known for her 1972 hit single "Think (About It)," which has become a classic in the funk and hip-hop genres. The song's iconic drum break has been sampled by numerous artists, including Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock in their hit "It Takes Two."


Throughout her career, Lyn Collins collaborated with various artists and released several albums, including "Check Me Out If You Don't Know Me by Now" and "Female Preacher." She continued to perform and record music until her death on March 13, 2005, in Pasadena, California. Lyn Collins left a lasting impact on the music industry and is remembered as a pioneering female artist in the funk and soul genres.
