Artist Bio:
Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964. The band became known for popularizing the Southern rock genre in the 1970s with their signature sound that blended rock, blues, and country music influences. Lynyrd Skynyrd gained commercial success with their hits like "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," and "Simple Man."
Tragically, the band's career was marred by a plane crash in 1977 that claimed the lives of several members, including lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant. Despite this setback, Lynyrd Skynyrd regrouped and continued to perform and release music over the years with different lineups. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, cementing their legacy as one of the most influential rock bands in American music history.
