Mable John is an American R&B and gospel singer who was born on November 3, 1930, in Bastrop, Louisiana. She began her music career in the 1950s, and in 1966, she became the first female artist signed to the legendary Stax Records. John released several singles with Stax, including "Your Good Thing (Is About to End)" and "Able Mable," which became hits on the R&B charts.


In addition to her solo career, Mable John also sang backup vocals for artists such as Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. She later transitioned to a career in gospel music and became a minister. Mable John's soulful voice and powerful performances have earned her a place in music history as a pioneering female artist in the R&B genre.
