Mac Davis was an American country music singer, songwriter, and actor born on January 21, 1942, in Lubbock, Texas. Known for his unique blend of country, pop, and rock music, Davis achieved success in the 1970s with hits such as "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me" and "Stop and Smell the Roses." He also wrote several songs for other artists, including Elvis Presley's hits "In the Ghetto" and "A Little Less Conversation."


In addition to his music career, Davis also had success as an actor, appearing in films such as "North Dallas Forty" and "The Sting II." He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Mac Davis passed away on September 29, 2020, at the age of 78.
