Major Harris was an American R&B singer born on February 9, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia. He gained prominence as a member of the Delfonics, a soul vocal group, in the early 1970s. Harris joined the Delfonics in 1971 as a replacement for lead singer Randy Cain. During his time with the group, he contributed to their hit songs such as "La-La (Means I Love You)" and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)."
In 1974, Major Harris left the Delfonics to pursue a solo career. He released several successful solo albums, including "My Way" and "Jealousy." His biggest solo hit came in 1975 with the song "Love Won't Let Me Wait," which reached the top of the R&B charts and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Major Harris continued to record and perform throughout the 1980s and 1990s, leaving behind a legacy of soulful and romantic music. He passed away on November 9, 2012, at the age of 65.
