Artist Bio:
Major Lance was an American R&B singer who was born on April 4, 1939, in Winterville, Mississippi. He gained popularity in the 1960s with his smooth and soulful voice, as well as his energetic stage presence. Lance was known for his hits such as "The Monkey Time" and "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um". He was signed to Okeh Records and later to the Curtis Mayfield's label, Dakar Records.

Lance's music was influenced by the Chicago soul sound, and he was often compared to other popular soul artists of the time, such as Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke. He continued to release music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, but his popularity waned in the following decades. Major Lance passed away on September 3, 1994, but his music remains influential in the world of soul and R&B.
