Mama Cass Elliot, born Ellen Naomi Cohen on September 19, 1941, was an American singer and actress best known as a member of the popular 1960s folk rock band The Mamas and the Papas. Elliot's powerful and soulful voice contributed to the group's unique sound and helped them achieve widespread success with hits such as "California Dreamin'" and "Monday, Monday."


After the band disbanded in 1968, Elliot embarked on a successful solo career, releasing several albums and singles. She was also known for her warm and engaging stage presence, and her performances were praised for their emotional depth and vocal range. Sadly, Mama Cass Elliot passed away on July 29, 1974, at the age of 32.
