Mandrill is an American funk band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1968. The band is known for their eclectic blend of funk, soul, jazz, and Latin music, incorporating elements of rock and R&B into their sound. Mandrill was founded by the Wilson brothers - Carlos, Lou, and Ric Wilson - along with Claude "Coffee" Cave, and Omar Mesa.


Mandrill released their self-titled debut album in 1970, and went on to release a string of successful albums throughout the 1970s. Some of their popular songs include "Fencewalk," "Hang Loose," and "Positive Thing." Mandrill's music has been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists, further solidifying their influence on the genre. The band continues to perform and record music, staying true to their unique blend of musical styles.
