Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
M/A/R/R/S was a British electronic music collective formed by members of the groups A.R. Kane and Colourbox. The group's name was an acronym derived from the first letter of each member's name. They are best known for their 1987 hit single "Pump Up the Volume," which combined elements of house music, hip hop, and samples from various sources. The song was a major commercial success, reaching the top of the charts in multiple countries.

Despite the success of "Pump Up the Volume," M/A/R/R/S only released one studio album, titled "Pump Up the Volume: UK Remixes," which featured various remixes of the hit single. The group disbanded shortly after the release of the album, with members returning to their respective projects. M/A/R/R/S is often cited as a pioneering act in the realm of sample-based music and had a significant influence on the emerging genres of electronic and dance music in the late 1980s.
