Martha & The Vandellas were an American vocal group formed in 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. The group's original lineup consisted of Martha Reeves, Rosalind Ashford, and Annette Beard. They found success in the 1960s, particularly for their hits on the Motown label. Some of their most famous songs include "Dancing in the Street," "Heat Wave," and "Nowhere to Run."
The group's music was known for its energetic and soulful sound, blending elements of pop, R&B, and gospel. Martha & The Vandellas were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, recognizing their contributions to the Motown sound and their enduring impact on popular music.
