Artist Bio:
Marty Balin was an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the rock band Jefferson Airplane. Born on January 30, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Balin's tenor voice and songwriting contributions were integral to the band's success during the 1960s and 1970s. He was also known for his soulful and emotive vocal delivery, which helped define the psychedelic rock sound of the era.


In addition to his work with Jefferson Airplane, Balin pursued a solo career and released several albums. He later rejoined some of his former bandmates in the 1980s for a Jefferson Airplane reunion, as well as the spin-off band Jefferson Starship. Marty Balin passed away on September 27, 2018, leaving behind a legacy as a key figure in the counterculture movement and a pioneer of the psychedelic rock genre.
