Marty Robbins, born Martin David Robinson on September 26, 1925, was an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He was best known for his contributions to country music, with hits such as "El Paso," "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation," and "Big Iron." Robbins was also successful in other genres, including pop and rockabilly.


In addition to his music career, Marty Robbins was also a talented race car driver, competing in NASCAR events throughout the 1970s. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982 and continued to perform and record music until his passing on December 8, 1982. Marty Robbins left a lasting legacy in the world of music, with his distinctive voice and storytelling abilities earning him a place among the greats of country music.
