Artist Bio:
Marvin Gaye was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who is considered one of the greatest and most influential artists in the history of popular music. Born on April 2, 1939, in Washington, D.C., Gaye began his career in the early 1960s and quickly rose to fame with hits like "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."

Gaye is perhaps best known for his socially conscious and groundbreaking album "What's Going On," released in 1971, which addressed issues such as poverty, racism, and environmental concerns. His smooth and soulful voice, along with his innovative approach to music and songwriting, have left a lasting impact on the music industry. Tragically, Gaye was shot and killed by his father on April 1, 1984, just one day before his 45th birthday.
