He began his career at Motown Records in the 1960s, where he recorded numerous hits, including "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "What's Going On." Tammi Terrell, born Thomasina Winifred Montgomery on April 29, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was an American singer signed to Motown Records. She is best known for her duets with Marvin Gaye, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing." Terrell's career was tragically cut short when she passed away from a brain tumor at the age of 24 in 1970.
