Artist Bio:
Mary Hopkin is a Welsh singer-songwriter born on May 3, 1950, in Pontardawe, Wales. She rose to fame in the late 1960s after being discovered by the Beatles' Paul McCartney, who signed her to the Apple record label. Hopkin's debut single, "Those Were the Days," produced by McCartney, became a hit in 1968, reaching number one on the UK singles chart and the top ten in the US. Her debut album of the same name also achieved commercial success, reaching number two on the UK albums chart.


Following her initial success, Hopkin released several more albums and singles throughout the 1970s, showcasing her folk-influenced sound and her distinctive voice. After taking a hiatus from the music industry, she made a comeback in the 2000s, releasing new music and performing live. Mary Hopkin remains a respected and influential figure in the world of music, known for her unique blend of folk, pop, and Celtic influences.
