Mary Hopkin is a Welsh singer-songwriter best known for her 1968 hit single "Those Were the Days," produced by Paul McCartney of The Beatles. She was born on May 3, 1950, in Pontardawe, Wales. Hopkin was discovered after appearing on the British television talent show "Opportunity Knocks" in 1968, which led to her signing with The Beatles' Apple Records.


In addition to her successful music career, Hopkin also represented the United Kingdom in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Knock, Knock Who's There?" She released several albums throughout the 1970s and has continued to record music, as well as being involved in various musical projects. Mary Hopkin's ethereal voice and folk-inspired music have left a lasting impact on the music industry, making her a respected artist in the folk and pop genres.
