Mashmakhan was a Canadian rock band formed in Montreal in 1969. The group consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Pierre Senecal, keyboardist and vocalist Brian Edwards, bassist and vocalist Rayburn Blake, and drummer and vocalist Jerry Mercer. They are best known for their hit single "As the Years Go By," which reached the top of the charts in Canada and peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in 1970. The band released two albums, self-titled "Mashmakhan" in 1970 and "The Family" in 1971, before disbanding in 1972.
Mashmakhan's music is often described as a mix of rock, pop, and psychedelic influences, featuring catchy melodies and strong vocal harmonies. Despite their relatively short career, Mashmakhan left a lasting impact on the Canadian music scene and are remembered as pioneers of the country's rock music history.
