Mason Williams is an American guitarist, composer, and comedian born on August 24, 1938. He is best known for his 1968 instrumental piece "Classical Gas," which won three Grammy Awards, including Best Instrumental Composition. Williams was also a comedy writer for the popular television show "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" in the late 1960s, where he won an Emmy Award for his work.


In addition to his music and comedy career, Mason Williams is also a published author and visual artist. He has written several books, including "The Mason Williams Reading Matter" and "Flavors." Williams' artistic talents extend beyond music, showcasing his creativity in various forms of entertainment and expression throughout his career.
