Mass Production was an American funk and disco band formed in Norfolk, Virginia, in the early 1970s. The group was known for their energetic live performances and their ability to blend elements of funk, soul, and disco into their music. They were signed to Cotillion Records, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, and released several albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Mass Production's most successful single was "Firecracker," which reached number 4 on the Billboard R&B chart in 1979. The band's lineup changed over the years, but they maintained a core group of members including Kevin Douglas, who served as the lead vocalist. Despite not achieving mainstream success on the level of some of their contemporaries, Mass Production developed a dedicated fan base and are remembered for their contributions to the funk and disco music scenes of the 1970s and 1980s.
