Matthews' Southern Comfort is a British folk rock band formed in 1970 by singer-songwriter Iain Matthews. The band's debut album, titled "Matthews' Southern Comfort," was released in the same year and achieved commercial success, reaching the top 40 on the UK Albums Chart. The band is best known for their cover of Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock," which became a hit single for them in 1970.
After the success of their debut album, Matthews' Southern Comfort released a few more albums before disbanding in 1972. The band reformed in the early 2000s with a new lineup, and they have since released several more albums, including "Kind of New" in 2010 and "Like a Radio" in 2018. Matthews' Southern Comfort continues to tour and perform, with Iain Matthews as the only original member still in the band.
