Artist Bio:
Maynard Ferguson was a Canadian jazz trumpet player and bandleader known for his exceptional range and power. He was born on May 4, 1928, in Verdun, Quebec, and began playing the trumpet at a young age. Ferguson gained fame in the 1950s and 1960s as a member of Stan Kenton's orchestra, where he showcased his high notes and virtuosic playing style. In the 1970s, he formed his own band, the Big Bop Nouveau, which became known for its energetic performances and fusion of jazz and rock elements.


Ferguson recorded over 60 albums throughout his career and was known for his innovative approach to jazz music, incorporating elements of bebop, swing, and funk. He continued to perform and record music until his death on August 23, 2006, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential trumpet players in jazz history.
