MC Lyte, born Lana Michelle Moorer on October 11, 1970, is an American rapper and actress. She first gained fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s as one of the first female rappers to achieve success in the male-dominated hip-hop industry. Known for her powerful and socially conscious lyrics, MC Lyte released her debut album, "Lyte as a Rock," in 1988, which featured the hit single "Paper Thin." She went on to release several more albums, including "Eyes on This" and "Act Like You Know," solidifying her status as one of the most respected female rappers in the industry.
