Meat Puppets are an American rock band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1980. The band was founded by brothers Curt and Cris Kirkwood, who are the primary members and songwriters. Meat Puppets are known for their unique blend of punk rock, country, and psychedelic rock, which has garnered them a cult following.


The band achieved commercial success in the 1990s with their album "Too High to Die," which featured the hit single "Backwater." Meat Puppets are also known for their collaboration with Nirvana during their famous MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. The band has released over a dozen studio albums throughout their career and continues to tour and record new music to this day.
