Meco is an American record producer and musician, best known for his work in the genres of disco and pop music. He gained widespread popularity in the late 1970s with his disco adaptation of John Williams' "Star Wars" theme, titled "Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band." The single became a massive hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977.


Meco, whose real name is Domenico Monardo, began his music career as a jazz musician before transitioning to producing and arranging music in the disco era. In addition to his success with the "Star Wars" theme, Meco released several other albums that combined elements of disco, pop, and orchestral music. He continued to work in the music industry throughout the 1980s and 1990s, producing music for various artists and projects.
