Artist Bio:
Merle Haggard, born on April 6, 1937, was an American country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler. He was known for his distinctive voice and poignant lyrics, often drawing inspiration from his troubled past and tumultuous personal life. Haggard rose to fame in the 1960s with hits like "Mama Tried," "Okie from Muskogee," and "The Fightin' Side of Me." He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994 and continued to record and perform until his death on April 6, 2016.

Merle Haggard often performed with his backing band, The Strangers, who were known for their tight musicianship and ability to complement Haggard's raw and emotive vocals. The Strangers consisted of various talented musicians over the years, including Roy Nichols, Norm Hamlet, and Tiny Moore. Together, Merle Haggard and The Strangers created a distinctive sound that blended traditional country music with elements of rock and blues, leaving a lasting impact on the country music genre.
