Metallica is an American heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, California. The band was founded by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield. Over the years, Metallica has had several lineup changes, with the current members being Ulrich, Hetfield, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo.
Known for their aggressive musical style, complex instrumentals, and introspective lyrics, Metallica is considered one of the pioneering bands of the thrash metal genre. They have released numerous successful albums, including their breakthrough record "Master of Puppets" in 1986 and their self-titled album, commonly referred to as "The Black Album," in 1991.
