Michael Henderson is an American bassist, vocalist, and producer who is best known for his work in the jazz fusion genre. Born on July 7, 1951, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Henderson began his musical career as a session musician, playing with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Miles Davis.
Henderson gained recognition in the 1970s when he joined the jazz fusion band, Weather Report, and later went on to release solo albums that showcased his skills as a bassist and vocalist. Some of his most popular songs include "Wide Receiver" and "You Are My Starship." Throughout his career, Henderson has collaborated with renowned musicians and continues to be a prominent figure in the jazz and R&B music scenes.
