He gained fame as a member of the rock band The Doobie Brothers in the 1970s, contributing his distinctive vocals to hits like "What a Fool Believes" and "Takin' It to the Streets." McDonald also enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing several albums that showcased his soulful voice and songwriting skills. He has won five Grammy Awards throughout his career.
