Michael Penn is an American singer-songwriter and composer, born on August 1, 1958, in Greenwich Village, New York City. He is the son of actor and director Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan, and the brother of actors Sean Penn and Chris Penn. Penn began his music career in the 1980s as a member of the Los Angeles-based band Doll Congress before pursuing a solo career.
Penn released his debut solo album, "March," in 1989, which included the hit single "No Myth." The song reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received critical acclaim. He has since released several more albums, including "Free-for-All" and "Mr. Hollywood Jr., 1947." In addition to his music career, Penn has also composed scores for films and television shows, such as "Boogie Nights" and "Girls." His music is characterized by introspective lyrics and melodic pop-rock sound.
