Michael Stanley Band was an American rock band formed in 1974 in Cleveland, Ohio. The band was fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Michael Stanley, who was also known for his work as a radio personality in Cleveland. The band experienced their greatest success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, releasing a string of albums that garnered a loyal following in the Midwest region of the United States.
Their 1980 album, "Heartland," was their most successful release, featuring the hit single "He Can't Love You." The band toured extensively and built a reputation for their energetic live performances. Despite never achieving national mainstream success, Michael Stanley Band maintained a dedicated fan base and continued to release music throughout the 1980s. After disbanding in 1987, Michael Stanley pursued a solo career but reunited with some of the original band members for occasional performances. Tragically, Michael Stanley passed away in 2021 at the age of 72.
