Midnight Star is an American R&B and electro-funk band that was formed in 1976 in Kentucky. The group's original members included Reggie Calloway, Bill Simmons, Melvin Gentry, Belinda Lipscomb, Bo Watson, and Jeffrey Cooper. They rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like "Freak-A-Zoid" and "No Parking on the Dance Floor."
Their most successful album, "No Parking on the Dance Floor," was released in 1983 and reached platinum status. The title track from the album became a major hit, reaching the top of the Billboard R&B chart. Midnight Star continued to release music throughout the 1980s and 1990s, with other popular songs including "Operator" and "Midas Touch." They were known for their combination of R&B vocals and electronic instrumentation, which helped them stand out in the music scene of the time.
