Midnight Star is an American R&B and electro-funk band that was formed in 1976 in Kentucky. The group's original members were brothers Reggie and Vincent Calloway, Belinda Lipscomb, Melvin Gentry, Bo Watson, Bill Simmons, and Jeff Cooper. They signed with Solar Records in the early 1980s and released their debut album, "The Beginning," in 1980.

Midnight Star is best known for their hits such as "Freak-A-Zoid," "No Parking on the Dance Floor," and "Operator." Their music is characterized by a fusion of R&B, funk, and electronic elements, which helped them stand out in the music scene of the time.
