Midnight Star is an American R&B and electro-funk group formed in 1976 in Kentucky. The group's music is known for its fusion of funk, soul, and electronic elements, and they gained popularity in the 1980s with hits like "No Parking on the Dance Floor" and "Freak-A-Zoid". Midnight Star's lineup has changed over the years, with members including the Calloway brothers, Belinda Lipscomb, Melvin Gentry, Bo Watson, and others.
Their breakthrough album, "No Parking on the Dance Floor," released in 1983, reached the top spot on the Billboard R&B chart and was certified platinum. Midnight Star continued to release successful albums throughout the 80s and 90s, including "Headlines" and "Planetary Invasion". They are considered pioneers in the electro-funk genre and have influenced many artists in the R&B and dance music scenes.
