Artist Bio:
Millie Small was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, born on October 6, 1946, and passed away on May 5, 2020. She is best known for her hit single "My Boy Lollipop," released in 1964. The song was one of the first ska songs to achieve international success, reaching the top of the charts in the UK and making Small the first Jamaican artist to have a major hit in the UK and the US. Small's version of "My Boy Lollipop" has since become a classic in the ska genre.

Small was often referred to as the "Blue Beat Girl" due to her association with the Blue Beat record label, which specialized in releasing Jamaican ska music. Despite the success of "My Boy Lollipop," Small did not achieve the same level of success with subsequent releases. Nonetheless, she remains an important figure in the history of Jamaican music and is remembered for her pioneering contribution to the popularization of ska music on an international scale.
