Malloy gained recognition in the early 1990s when he was selected as the new lead singer for the band Van Halen, although he ultimately did not end up recording an album with them.

Malloy released his self-titled debut album in 1992, which included the hit song "Anything at All." Throughout his career, he has released several solo albums and has worked with various artists as a songwriter and producer.
