Nappy Brown was an American rhythm and blues singer known for his soulful voice and energetic stage presence. He was born Napoleon Brown Goodson Culp in 1929 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brown's music career began in the 1950s when he signed with Savoy Records and released several successful singles, including "Don't Be Angry" and "Pitter Patter." He was known for his unique vocal style, which blended elements of rhythm and blues, gospel, and soul.


Despite experiencing some success in the early years of his career, Brown's popularity declined in the 1960s. However, he experienced a resurgence in the 1980s when he signed with the label Alligator Records and released the album "Tore Up." Brown continued to perform and record music until his passing in 2008. His contributions to rhythm and blues music have left a lasting impact on the genre, and he is remembered as a talented and influential artist.
