Nat King Cole was an American jazz pianist and vocalist who gained fame as a leading jazz and pop singer during the 1940s and 1950s. He was born on March 17, 1919, in Montgomery, Alabama, and grew up in Chicago where he began his music career playing the piano. Cole's smooth and velvety voice made him a popular and influential artist in the music industry. He is best known for hits such as "Unforgettable," "Mona Lisa," and "The Christmas Song."


In addition to his successful music career, Nat King Cole was also one of the first African American performers to host his own television variety show, "The Nat King Cole Show," which aired in the late 1950s. Cole's legacy continues to be celebrated, and he was posthumously awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990. He passed away on February 15, 1965, in Santa Monica, California, leaving behind a lasting impact on the world of music.
