He is best known for his work in popular music, particularly his collaborations with singers like Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. Riddle is considered one of the premier arrangers in the history of popular music, known for his innovative orchestral arrangements that helped define the sound of the 1950s and 1960s.


Riddle worked on numerous albums with Sinatra, including the iconic "Songs for Swingin' Lovers!" and "Nice 'n' Easy." He also composed the theme music for several television shows, including "Route 66" and "The Untouchables." Riddle won several Grammy Awards for his work, including Album of the Year for his arrangements on Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night." His influence on popular music continues to be felt today, with his arrangements still revered for their sophistication and elegance.
