New Birth was an American R&B group formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1970. The group was known for their soulful sound and harmonies, as well as their energetic live performances. They were managed by former Motown songwriter/producer Harvey Fuqua, who also helped them secure a recording contract with RCA Records.
New Birth released a string of successful albums in the 1970s, including hits such as "Wildflower" and "Dream Merchant." The group also had a rotating lineup of members throughout their career, with notable members including Leslie Wilson and Melvin Wilson. New Birth's music has been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists, further solidifying their influence in the music industry.
