New Boyz was a hip-hop duo from Hesperia, California, consisting of rappers Ben J and Legacy. The group gained popularity in the late 2000s with their hit single "You're a Jerk," known for its jerkin' dance style. They collaborated with producers The Cataracs and singer Dev on the song "Backseat," which became a commercial success and peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2011.

The Cataracs, a production duo from Berkeley, California, comprised of Niles Hollowell-Dhar and David Singer-Vine, were known for their electro-pop and hip-hop-infused sound. Dev, an American singer and songwriter, provided vocals on "Backseat" and had previously worked with The Cataracs on her own hit singles.
