New Edition is an American R&B group formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978. The original lineup consisted of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ralph Tresvant. They achieved mainstream success in the 1980s with a string of hits including "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "Mr. Telephone Man."
