Artist Bio:
Nirvana was an American rock band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. The band was founded by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, with a succession of drummers completing the lineup. They are considered one of the most influential and iconic bands in the history of alternative rock music. Nirvana's sound blended elements of punk rock, heavy metal, and indie rock, helping to popularize the "grunge" genre in the early 1990s.
Nirvana achieved mainstream success with their second album, "Nevermind," released in 1991. The album featured the hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which propelled the band to worldwide fame. Despite their short career, Nirvana's impact on the music industry was profound, and they are often credited with bringing alternative rock to the mainstream. Tragically, Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994, leading to the disbandment of Nirvana.
