Artist Bio:
Nirvana was an American rock band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. The band was founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, with various drummers joining the band over the years. Nirvana is often credited with popularizing grunge music, a subgenre of alternative rock that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their breakthrough came with their second album, "Nevermind," released in 1991, which featured the hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
Nirvana achieved worldwide success and critical acclaim, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the era. Despite their relatively short career, the band's impact on music and popular culture continues to be felt to this day. Tragically, Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994, leading to the disbandment of Nirvana. The remaining members have since pursued other musical projects, but Nirvana's legacy as one of the defining bands of the 1990s remains intact.
