Norma Tanega was an American folk and pop singer-songwriter born on January 30, 1939, in Vallejo, California. She is best known for her hit single "Walkin' My Cat Named Dog," which reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966. Tanega also released an album titled "Walkin' My Cat Named Dog" the same year, which featured her distinctive voice and guitar playing.
In addition to her music career, Tanega was also an accomplished visual artist, creating paintings, drawings, and sculptures. She studied art at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and went on to exhibit her artwork in galleries in Los Angeles and New York City. Tanega's unique blend of folk, pop, and visual art has left a lasting impact on the music and art communities. She passed away on December 29, 2019, at the age of 80.
