O.C. Smith was an American singer born on June 21, 1932, in Mansfield, Louisiana. He is best known for his hit song "Little Green Apples," which won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1969. Smith started his music career as a jazz vocalist before transitioning to R&B and soul music. He released numerous albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, showcasing his smooth and versatile vocal style.


In addition to his music career, O.C. Smith also had success as a professional baseball player, playing in the minor leagues for the Chicago White Sox organization. He later became a minister and continued to perform gospel music throughout his life. O.C. Smith passed away on November 23, 2001, leaving behind a legacy of soulful music and spiritual influence.
