O.C. Smith was an American singer born on June 21, 1932, in Mansfield, Louisiana. He was best known for his hit song "Little Green Apples," which won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1968. Smith began his music career as a jazz vocalist before transitioning to a successful career in R&B and soul music.
In addition to "Little Green Apples," O.C. Smith had several other chart-topping hits, including "Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp" and "Daddy's Little Man." He released numerous albums throughout his career and continued to perform and record music until his passing on November 23, 2001, in Los Angeles, California. O.C. Smith's soulful voice and emotive delivery earned him a dedicated fan base and cemented his legacy as a talented and influential artist in the music industry.
