The Ohio Players were an American funk and R&B band formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1959. The band originally started as the Ohio Untouchables and underwent several name changes before settling on Ohio Players in 1972. The group's most successful period was in the 1970s, where they achieved several hit singles on the Billboard charts.


The Ohio Players are best known for their funky and soulful music, characterized by their tight grooves, catchy melodies, and dynamic horn section. Some of their most popular songs include "Fire," "Love Rollercoaster," and "Skin Tight." The band's music has been sampled by numerous hip-hop and R&B artists, solidifying their influence on contemporary music. The Ohio Players were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.
