Otis Redding was an influential American soul singer and songwriter born on September 9, 1941, in Dawson, Georgia. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of soul music. One of his most famous songs, "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay," released in 1968, became a posthumous hit after his tragic death in a plane crash on December 10, 1967, at the age of 26.
