O.V. Wright, born on October 9, 1939, in Leno, Tennessee, was an American soul and gospel singer. He began his music career at a young age, singing in gospel groups before transitioning to secular music in the 1960s. Wright is known for his powerful and emotional vocal delivery, which earned him the nickname "The Soul of Memphis."


Throughout his career, O.V. Wright released numerous singles and albums, with some of his most famous songs including "That's How Strong My Love Is" and "A Nickel and a Nail." He was signed to several record labels during his career, including Back Beat Records and Hi Records. Despite facing personal struggles and health issues, O.V. Wright continued to perform and record music until his untimely death on November 16, 1980. His legacy lives on as he is remembered as one of the great soul singers of his time.
